One Tiny Secret by Adam Kunz

One Tiny Secret-Book Blurb
**Mature Content Warning** Recommended for 17+ due to language, violence, and sexual content.

Just one tiny secret has the potential to ruin everything.

Being the daughter of the sheriff in a small town like Holden Ridge means that eighteen-year-old Danielle “Dani” Marks’ life is under constant surveillance. She’s made a habit of staying under the radar by being a floater among social circles at school, which has kept her out of trouble—until now.

After a missing persons case stirs up the entire town, Dani finds herself caught right in the middle of the scandal. When she’s labeled a possible suspect, things quickly go from bad to worse. The sudden return of her old flame, Parker Reed, manages to make her whole situation even more complicated.

When an elusive unknown person begins to blackmail Dani by threatening to reveal her deepest secrets, Dani refuses to play along. That is, until the person’s actions take a violent turn. Holden Ridge loses its sense of quaint town security, and Dani is caught in a deadly game of cat and mouse.

Who can she trust when anyone around her could be a suspect?

One thing’s for certain though: Never underestimate the power of one tiny secret.

MY REVIEW: OMG seriously wraps up this book. Did you ever read RL Stine as a teen? Author Adam Kunz has BLOWN RL Stine out of the water in his debut solo novel One Tiny Secret.

Adam Kunz has written an adult mystery/thriller/romance/horror/ combination that will blow you away! I was not able to stop reading this book. I read it straight through. Each page leaves keeps you on the edge waiting to see what happens next.

Danielle "Dani" Marks', our lead character learns first hand how One Tiny Secret can turn your life inside out and backwards. Dani is so well written. She suddenly finds the heartbreak of an old flame returned (Parker), the betrayal of someone close and the fear of being accused of something she knows in her heart she is not responsible for. Will Parker's return be the dream she never thought could come true or will she find herself spiral into an endless nightmare?

YOU MUST READ ONE TINY SECRET TODAY!

HAPPY RELEASE DAY Adam Kunz and thank you for this amazing story.

Cruentus: Rise to Power - Blog Hop Hosted at Reading Lark

Cruentus: Rise to Power
Book 1, The Cruentus Series
By LS Broomfield

Book Blurb: A prophecy of old continued to burn in the embers of time; long left dormant until the Cruentus family rose above all others as darkness ascended the lands. Greed and deception were the name of the game, and Arturo Cruentus would stop at nothing as he concocted the ultimate scheme to get everything he wanted. No price was too high. The scene was set, the pieces strategically placed. The Gallo family could not come against him, and in the end Guido and Palmiria Gallo would come out the biggest losers, watching their only daughter, Emiliana, be taken away to render a debt settled.

Young Emiliana Gallo, a victim of circumstance, was thrust into a world she did not understand and forced to marry a man she did not know. But what no one expected, not even Arturo, was that Emiliana and his son, Donato, would fall in love against all odds. For Arturo, love made one weak, but for his son, it was love at first sight. Donato became an opportunist in his father’s dirty schemes and did everything in his power to ensure the woman he admired for so long not only took his name in marriage, but also fell in love with him. Donato wanted it all, his gamble paid off richly, and he achieved both marriage and love. However, on the day they said ‘I do’ and the Cruentus and Gallo families were joined, Emiliana was ripped from their home like a thief in the night.

An unknown force too unsettled to let the vision spill and strengthen the Cruentus family decided to do the unthinkable—double-cross the Cruentus family. Rage and disdain fuelled Donato and Arturo. Though their reasons were very different-their goal unified them. They squared off with the leader of the Russian Coven to take back Emiliana, and in the end the Russian coven paid the highest price as the leader's blood was spilled in retribution for his crime at the hands of Arturo. News spread quickly to the Magia Council, and before long Arturo was called before them to answer for his crime of murder unjustly. The Ancients of the roundtable at Mount Blanc, the mountain range bordering Italy and France, was now enacted as they listened to the tale that had unfolded. Little did they know that they were a part of the grand scheme Arturo Cruentus shrewdly planned for the ultimate betrayal.

My Review: It has been awhile since I read a book that touched on dark magic, treason, terror and good old fashion betrayal. Reading Cruentus gave me all this and MORE! This novella was amazing. The world that author L.S. Broomfield has created is full of magic, demons and life that we can never imagine. I am so excited to get into the rest of this series. If the novella is this good, I can only imagine how the rest of the series will go!

Emiliana, our female lead character is a humble young lady. She is content at home with her parents, working hard and earning her keep. Little does she realize that an old debt is about to be repaid and she is going to be the payment. Thrown into a new life, house and role she is petrified of what lies ahead of her. What will she think of the betrayal that has led her here? How will she ever adjust to what has been forced upon her as her new life?

This book has so much going for it. I love dark magic, demons and the time period in the late 1800s already says DARK to me. You will love getting lost in this world where a blood contract is rarely broken and you never know who you can or cannot trust. Your blood may contain more than you think!

What’s Being Said:

Cruentus: Rise to Power is a unique read that will draw you in and take you places that you've never been before.  The characters are well written and engaging.  The combination of the late 1800s time period and the magical world in which the story takes place serves to make this story memorable and interesting.  I've never read something quite like this novella and I can't wait to see more from L.S. Broomfield in the future.

Rise to Power is the first part of the Cruentus Series. In many ways a prequel to the heart of the story, this novella packs quite a punch.  While classified as a paranormal romance, that label simply is not all-encompassing enough to truly define the story. It is far more than a romance, leading the reader through a course of love against all odds and a family’s quest for power. Ms. Broomfield wields her words much the way her warlocks wield their magic, creating a world that the the reader simply becomes immersed in. Her characters come to life on the page and in the reader’s imagination as the story plays out like a movie for the mind.  Through twists and turns, the plot is unpredictable and layered, and it will leave you wanting more. It is the perfect combination of love and magic, romance and peril, action and old-fashioned good vs. evil. Only this time you’ll be left wondering.... what is so sexy about the wickedly evil?
~Tevya from Reading Lark

Are you ready for a journey into the world of dark magic, blood contracts, and innocence taken for granted? Welcome to the world of author LS Broomfield in her novella, Cruentus: Rise to Power. A book you will definitely not want to put down, Rise to Power has power, greed, innocence, and magic. A page turner to the very end!!

About the Author:

L.S. Broomfield lives in God’s country – Central Labrador, Canada. She wasn’t born there, but it’s where she and her family call home. Born and raised in Hawkes Bay, Newfoundland and Labrador, L.S. is  published author who is currently working on book two of the Cruentus series, a series of tales about the Cruentus family; namely, Dragos Cruentus, who who will make his appearance in the second book. She is full of talent and takes a fresh look on the paranormal world.

As a child, Lisa always wanted to write. She didn’t have any predilection of what to write, as long as she was writing – she was happy. She remembers growing up and traveling to Flower’s Cove to visit family and letting her imagination soar as the pen sketched across the paper. At such a young age, it was perhaps mostly incoherent thoughts tossed across the pages but still for all, it was a desire even then to write and tell a story.

As an adult, Lisa met an amazing group of individuals, and with their support and encouragement was brave enough to write and let people read the stories in her mind. While writing is one thing, allowing others to read the words one has spent hours putting to paper is entirely another thing. It opens the author wide to both praise and criticism. Lisa found it to be scary, yet wonderfully exciting.

Lisa has many people to thank for helping her to reach where she is today, but none of this would be possible without the support of her husband, Shawn, and her amazing kids, Brittany, Daniel, and Jacob. These people fill her world with color and make it worth writing – they enable her to do what she loves.

Review: The Show by John A Heldt

The Show by John A Heldt
Published Date: February 2013
Publisher: Self
Genre: Historical Fiction

The Story: Seattle, 1941. Grace Vandenberg, 21, is having a bad day. Minutes after Pearl Harbor is attacked, she learns that her boyfriend is a time traveler from 2000 who has abandoned her for a future he insists they cannot share. Determined to save their love, she follows him into the new century. But just when happiness is within her grasp, she accidentally enters a second time portal and exits in 1918. Distraught and heartbroken, Grace starts a new life in the age of Woodrow Wilson, silent movies, and the Spanish flu. She meets her parents as young, single adults and befriends a handsome, wounded Army captain just back from the war.

In THE SHOW, the sequel to THE MINE, Grace finds love and friendship in the ashes of tragedy as she endures the trial of her life.

My Review:  WOW!!  I had the opportunity to read The Mine and The Show.  I was so glad to see that we were able to find out what happened in the end of The Mine.  The Show is in Grace's POV and a few other smaller characters.  More so we can see what is happening with Joel and Grace.  I was on the edge of my seat reading this book.  I had a hard time putting it down.

We start with Grace's expierence in finding Joel.  Boy, do I love the descriptions of the scenery!! When everything seems to be going just fine, BAM, Grace is transported backwards in time. Then, wow, she starts to get a grasp at what it must have felt like for Joel, when he traveled from 2000 to 1941.  Luckily she finds some good smaritains, who take her in.  Then, the handsome wounded Army captain captures her fancy.  Only Grace is no longer sure if she'll ever make it back to Joel.  What to know what happens?  Pick up a copy of The Show and find out!!

In a Heartbeat Blog Tour

In a Heartbeat
By Teodora Kostova
RELEASE DAY BLAST

Synopsis
Stella

“I’ve been in and out of hospitals for the past ten months. I’ve had half my liver removed and even though this time the doctors are very optimistic that they’ve removed all of the tumours, they can’t be sure. In another three months they want me here again for a check up. Right now I feel better than I’ve ever felt. I know the damn thing is gone, at least for the moment. Despite that, I can’t make any plans for the future, not yet. I need to go somewhere where nobody knows me, where I can relax and maybe even forget about all this. Where I can meet people who don’t think of me as the girl who lost her father and her brother in a car accident, and who has cancer. I want to have fun, even if it’s for a couple of months.”

When Stella decides to visit her estranged cousin Lisa in Genoa, she has no idea Italy will give her a new reason to live.

Max

“Her gaze locked on a scene so beautiful, the picturesque beach paled in comparison. A lifeguard emerged from the water, his orange trunks stuck to his legs and water dripping all over him. He shook his head to get rid of some of the water in his hair and Stella felt as if everything started developing in slow motion – tiny drops of water slid from his neck down his broad chest and muscular arms, along a weaving tattoo on his right shoulder, and continued downwards towards his chest and washboard stomach, finally getting lost in the waistband of his trunks. A part of another tattoo peeked over his trunks on his left hip, the other part hidden under them. It was a total Baywatch moment.”

Their love is epic. But there are too many things keeping them apart.

“How could you keep this from me, Lisa? If you had told me the first day I met him, I would have avoided him like the plague. Nothing would have happened between us.”
“I kept your secrets, too, Stella.”

Are Max and Stella strong enough to fight not only for their love, but for their lives?

I asked Author  Teodora Kostova what inspires her to write. This is her reply:

What inspires me to write? I honestly have no idea.

With “In a Heartbeat” it was a picture and a song, and suddenly my head was filled with images, scenes and conversations. It hit me really fast. I had to sit down and write some of the things going on in my head, because it was overwhelming and I couldn't think of anything else. The story came together very quickly and I wrote literally every chance I got – early in the morning before I had to take my son to school; late at night when I couldn't sleep because Max and Stella wouldn't shut up; after Christmas dinner right before I fell into a food coma.

Music kept me going. My greatest inspiration for this book was 30 Seconds to Mars – I had their albums on repeat for days on end. Sometimes I’ll alternate between Framing Hanley and Three Days Grace, or even the radio, but I always came back to 30STM and their music always managed to guide me along and keep me writing.

Now that “In a Heartbeat” is published and people have started reading it, my biggest inspiration ever is the readers. I love getting fan mail and feedback! Some of the things people have said made me cry – I’m humbled and feel so lucky that my book has touched people in some way, even for a day or two while they were reading it. That’s the best feeling any author can ask for and it makes every single effort absolutely worth it.

Author Bio
Hi, my name is Teodora and I live in London with my husband Ted and my son Jason. I've been writing ever since I can remember, but it became my full time job in 2010 when I decided that everything else I've tried bores me to death and I have to do what I've always wanted to do, but never had to guts to fully embrace. I've been a journalist, an editor, a personal assistant and an interior designer among other things, but as soon as the novelty of the new, exciting job wears off, I always go back to writing. Being twitchy, impatient, loud and hasty are not qualities that help a writer, because I have to sit alone, preferably still, and write for most of the day, but I absolutely love it. It's the only time that I'm truly at peace and the only thing I can do for more than ten minutes at a time - my son has a bigger attention span than me.
When I'm procrastinating, I like to go to the gym, cook Italian meals (and eat them), read, listen to rock music, watch indie movies and True Blood re-runs. Or, in the worst case scenario, get beaten at every Wii game by a five year old.

My Review: OMG I loved this book! I really truly did. I am trying to overcome my fear of zombies so I had to read this. I AM SO GLAD I DID! I wonder now how many zombie books I am missing out on? This book is not only a zombie story but also has a serious twist to it! Author Meaka Kyel has pretty much touched on some of human beings biggest fears! The yellow eyed zombie apocalypse and the craziest weather patterns in recorded history. WHAT COULD POSSIBLY BE GOING ON?????

Ok so lets start with the cover of this book. It is GORGEOUS! What a beautiful setting to picture in your mind to start reading this book. It is so fitting!

So Lane and Gabby are faced with the zombie apocalypse that no one ever saw coming. The yellow eyed freaks as they are so well described are taking out the humans that are not yet changed. Lane and Gabby gather as many of their friends as they can and prepare for doomsday. Throw in the crazy weather that is totally out of control and unpredictable and you have an amazing story of survival, friendship and Mother Nature. There are many characters in this story that keep the story line running so smooth and even. I love how everyone interacts and how the characters are so real. I really hate to put this book in one genre. It has a little bit of zombie apocalypse, magic, end of the world OMG moments and some one sure made Mother Nature mad according to those weather patterns. I love the story line between Lane and Gabby. Lane is def one of my newest book boyfriends.
