Bloggers *Heart* Bloggers Tour-Interview with Mel from Girls *Heart* Books
HUGE THANK YOU to Tamara of Tamara's One Stop Indie Shop for coming up with this AMAZING IDEA!!What a great way to get to know other bloggers.
1. Tell us a little about you and your blog. When did you start blogging?
I am 34 years old, happily married to my very best friend and I work full time as a data entry technician. I am slowly but surely working my way towards finishing my own novel and I’m working with a couple friends on a few other projects as well. My blog, Girls *Heart* Books, used to be called Mel’s Book Blog when I first started out. That was in December of 2011 and I then took on some guest helpers who became permanent. And then one of the other girls decided to branch out on her own this past August. My co-blogger, Lana and I did some talking and decided a slight overhaul was needed. So we changed the name of the blog so people would know it was both of ours and the rest, as they say, is history. J
2. Do you only review one specific genre or do you review/blog for all genres? Are there any genres you will not review?
For a while there, we were focusing on YA and NA only, but honestly, Lana and I both LOVE romance & the steamier they are, the more we enjoy them. So, because of lovely ladies like Inara Scott (whom I adore), we decided to switch back to reviewing all genres. The only genre we really don’t review much of is erotica.
3. What was the motivation for you to start blogging?
I made friends with a girl at work who also loved to read and she had a blog. After talking with her at length, I realized that it was something I would love to do. I can’t go anywhere without finding someone to talk to about books. I am always the go to person for suggestions on what to read anywhere I’ve ever worked. So, I figured this would be something fun I could do to share my opinions on all the great books I find. It was a perfect fit.
4. Is there one review/author/book that has REALLY made a huge impact on you?
There are several, actually. But I’d have to go back to Michelle Warren, author of The Seraphina Parrish Trilogy. She was my first Indie interaction and she opened the door to so many others like Frankie Rose, Ada Adams and D.T. Dyllin to name a few. I had NO idea an indie book could blow my mind like hers did. Now, I honestly read more Indie authors than traditionally published ones.
5. Do you host or take part in blog tours?
We love hosting tours. It’s so much fun and promotes a sense of community, in my opinion. I’m actually starting to organize tours now and I’m really enjoying it so far.
6. About how many books a year do you read for fun and how many do you read for reviewing?
I didn’t do such a great job balancing last year, unfortunately. So I read about 215 books all together. Maybe 10 of those were for “fun”. So far, I’m doing better this year, I’ve already read two that I simply wanted to read.
THANK YOU!!!!! Mindy
